It seems you got the basic setup right. Take the signal from Brown/pink wire of any of the coils, don't matter.

You are probably the victim of induction signals.

First of all, you should connect both green wires, same point, close to the ECU, and NOT at the coil.

To avoid induction, use a shielded wire, from the ECU to the back, or close to the tacho. Cut the green wires to length.
Or pull a braided ss steel hose over the green wires, and ground at one end only.
In both cases, better use a soldering solution for all connections.

Okay, same, same.

Here is the part of the diagram that has to do with the coils. 26 is the designation for all four.

All negative wires from the coils are Brown/Pink.
They are paired with 4 different colours, one for each coil.
Green/Pink
Green/Purple
Green/Black
Green.

If you find the pairing, you can tap into any of the Brown/Pink.

If you have tapped in at the spark plug/coil before, you can try with an unshielded wire to the green on the tacho.

If you still have problems, try with a shielded wire ( principle like antenna cable, core wire and braided shield. Shield must be grounded at one end.

The coil only has a 5 volt signal on the birds. Is the tach you purchased programmable? If so set it at .5 pulse.
Connect the green to a coil wire, red to switched , black to ground.

That was my set up with a Speedhut tach on my 2010

I was just talking with Frank at Gearingo. He may be starting soon work on a Gearingo gear indicator for the LT/Commander that has provisions for connecting an aftermarket tachometer. Will be available through JBQ.
Stay tuned, but as with most new products, will need some development, so don't look for it too soon.

The ride may be fun, but in the Great Scheme of things, it really is about the destination! John 3:16

Hi, been a while since I have done much to the bird except change the oils etc????trying to finish a 2 year tachometer install project

Question when connecting to the coil ( coil on plug ) wire, do you just splice in to the brown/pink wire on cylinder 1 and where is best point along the wire to join.

LT1700 pipes bars and tachometer that does not work yet

It's something that I've never had to deal with on ECU bikes, why they didn't fit them to LT's is weird.
